A Message from the Principal

Welcome to the Viewbank Primary School website. We hope you find the information it contains helpful. Should there be anything about the school that you wish to clarify or discuss further, please do not hesitate to phone me, contact me via the school's email address, or come in for a chat.

The staff and parents of Viewbank Primary School have a strong commitment to creating a school environment which values caring for each other, respect and responsibility. We are also focused on enhancing the strong partnership between the home and school. We strive to develop each individual child's potential in all curriculum areas. We also emphasise the development of resilience in children through participation in a myriad of experiences promoting confidence, persistence, organisation, and getting along.

It’s not long now to Fathers’ day, and in preparation, the Parents and Friends Committee have planned a stall for next Wednesday, September 3. Start saving your coins, kids! (Alternatively, ask Mum for a loan!)

The big nights are nearly upon us – Monday and Tuesday September 1 and 2. For those new to the school, the school dance has a long tradition, and this year it will be run by a dance instructor from the Footsteps Company, who has been instructing our students these last seven weeks. The nights run from 7pm until 9.30pm and you will have noted by now previous information sent out via Compass on the ‘finer’ details of the night. We look forward to seeing you there.

You will recall a previous newsletter where I spoke about the fact that we are celebrating 50 years of education at Viewbank Primary School in February 2016. Last week, a committee of interested school community members met for the first time to plan celebrations to mark this event, and in our discussions two agenda items got a fair bit of air play! The first was the location of the time capsule that was buried when we celebrated 25 years in 1991… we were hoping that someone in our community might know its location? If you do, please let us know without hesitation. The second was knowledge of any past students who have gone on to big things in the arts, education, business, sport or any other field of note. We are keen to hear about them. We have started a Facebook page and will be posting photos, news items and more as we near the big celebrations and are hoping that past students (now parents) in particular might contribute to these pages.
