Welcome to the Viewbank Primary School website. We hope you find the information it contains helpful. Should there be anything about the school that you wish to clarify or discuss further, please do not hesitate to phone me, contact me via the school's email address, or come in for a chat.

The staff and parents of Viewbank Primary School have a strong commitment to creating a school environment which values caring for each other, respect and responsibility. We are also focused on enhancing the strong partnership between the home and school. We strive to develop each individual child's potential in all curriculum areas. We also emphasise the development of resilience in children through participation in a myriad of experiences promoting confidence, persistence, organisation, and getting along.

SCHOOL COUNCIL
Friday, 30 January 2015 14:31
The first School Council meeting for the year, and the last for this current School Council, will be held at school on Thursday, February 19 from 7.30pm in the staffroom. I have had a few enquiries about involvement in the next School Council, and so have included some information later in this newsletter. I will commence the formal election process next week, when I will publish detailed information with the newsletter. Summarily, we have four DEECD employees, and eight Parent members on School Council, and there will be two vacancies in the DEECD category and four in the Parent category to fill.

SCHOOL SWIMMING SPORTS
Friday, 30 January 2015 14:30
The Annual Swimming Carnival for students in Grades 3 to 6 is set down for Friday, February 13 at the Water Marc pool in Greensborough. Further details will be provided within the next week, but please mark the date in your diary and come along and support your children!!

PUPIL FREE DAYS INCLUDING ADVANCE NOTICE!
Friday, 30 January 2015 14:29
Each year four days are set aside as ‘pupil-free’ days to allow for reporting writing or interviews, whole staff curriculum development or similar. The first of these four days was Wednesday, which was a teacher preparation day to enable the smooth start to the school year. The second of these days for 2015 is on Monday, February 9, when all staff will be participating in a professional development program relating to writing. Accordingly, there is NO school on this day so parents will need to make alternative arrangements for supervision of children.
