School Captains

Our students have many opportunities to develop their leadership skills at Viewbank Primary School. We have a boy and a girl school captain and vice captain, selected from the Grade 6 classes and elected by their peers. These students play pivotal roles in school assemblies, school tours and in a range of other public speaking and mentoring situations. They even get to be 'Principal For A Day' in August each year.

House Captains

Our House system is in place to promote fun competition in athletics, swimming and cross country and as a positive reinforcement for exemplary behaviour across the school. Grade 5 and 6 students are elected as House Captains and Vice-Captains each year with the houses being Darebin, Diamond, Plenty and Yarra.

Junior School Council

Junior School Council meets on a regular basis to plan and implement a range of student activities including fund raising for charities and out of uniform days and to discuss issues concerning students. Each of the 21 classes in the school appoint a boy and girl representative on an annual basis.

Peer Mediation

Peer mediators are trained annually to be another 'point-of-contact' in the yard to deal with minor issues or disputes that can be solved in such a fashion.
