Viewbank Primary School is an affiiated member of the Heidelberg District School Sports Association. As one of the largest schools in the District we happily field two teams each week in Summer and Winter Sports Competitions promoting participation over a 'win at all costs' attitude. Our current team selection policy supports this.
In 2009, the following schools make up the HDSSA - Banyule PS, Haig Street PS, Heidelberg PS, Macleod PS, Rosanna PS, Rosanna Golflinks PS, St Martins PS, St Pius PS and Viewbank PS. Students in Grades 5 and 6 participate in Summer Sports Competitions in the sports of softball, rounders, cricket and bat tennis, whilst in Winter they have the opportunity to participate in Netball, Football and Soccer. There are also District competitions in Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country with successful participants able to represent the District and themselves in Eastern Yarra Zone, Edebone Region and ultimately State Competitions. In addition there are many other activities and events organised at a District Level including Hooptime Basketball, Girls Football and Boys Netball competitions.
