Healthy Options Due to popular demand, our special Healthy Options Days have returned this year.
- The name of these days has been changed from ‘Lunches’ to ‘Options’ as some ideas are intended to supplement student lunches rather than replace them.
- As previously mentioned, these will be available on MONDAYS rather than Wednesdays.
- Please note that Healthy Options orders must be received by the Friday prior - No late orders can be accepted.
- Healthy Options will be advertised in the school newsletter but for your information, the planned schedule for this Term can be found in this section of our website.
Our latest prices and healthy lunch dates are able to be accessed here for your convenience:

Go For Your Life! Go For Your Life is a Victorian Government initiative which aims to promote healthy eating and increase levels of physical activity. On the GFYL website there are hundreds of ideas and recipes to help you and your family stay happy, healthy and active.
The current GFYL campaign is to limit what they call ‘Sometimes’ Foods. Their recent survey found that 46% of Victorian school aged children were eating lollies, chocolate, biscuits, cake or ice cream daily and 53% were drinking sweet drinks, such as soft drinks, fruit juice, cordial or sports drinks, daily. These foods and drinks are not essential for providing nutrients the body needs and can contribute large amounts of energy and potentially harm a growing body. By limiting these ‘sometimes’ foods and drinks, we can help children teach their full potential.

Can YOU support our Canteen? We rely heavily on volunteers and can’t operate without your support. Obviously, the more helpers that we have, the better for everyone.
Can YOU spare a few hours every now and again to support our school?
- The school canteen opens on Thursday and Friday lunchtimes as a service to all students in Grades P – 6 and we are also running Healthy Options on Monday lunchtimes. Duties include collating orders, preparing hot and cold food ready for service (and over-the-counter sales on Thursdays and Fridays).
- The Fruit + Veg Program for students in Prep – Grade 2 operates on Monday mornings. If you can spare a few minutes after assembly on a Monday, we would appreciate your help to prepare the fresh fruit and veg. It's a great opportunity to meet other parents and have a chat and a cuppa...
If you would like to help support our school canteen, please contact Robin Spencer, our Canteen Manager on Thursday & Friday mornings or Nicole Schering in the Canteen after assembly on Mondays.
Bread? The Viewbank PS canteen offers both white and wholemeal bread for sandwiches and rolls. From this point on, your sandwich/roll order will automatically be prepared using wholemeal bread unless otherwise specified. We hope that you agree that this is a small but healthy step in the right direction.
