Konnichiwa! All students at Viewbank Primary School will study Japanese for one session a week. In a typical Japanese class, we cover some basic oral language skills and practice using it through song, repetition and role plays. In addition to oral language, older children will also begin learning about the writing system in Japan.
All students will also learn about geography and study Japan's unique culture, from food to festivals to traditional folk stories. Students will be engaged through a variety of videos, workbook activities and hands on materials.
Later in the year we will also be holding our 'Culture Day', a whole day where all students participate in Japanese cultural activities, watch a performance and have the opportunity to order a special Japanese lunch too.
You can view the Viewbank Primary School Japanese blog page here. The blog has links to websites for learning Japanese, videos and will be updated to show what students have been learning about in Japanese.
