Caring Support for Our Defence Families at Viewbank Primary School
At Viewbank Primary School, we are proud to support students and families from Australian Defence Force (ADF) backgrounds through our Defence School Support Program. Our support program is designed to assist Defence families, particularly during times of transition—such as postings or parental absences—and to help students feel secure, connected, and understood.
Our Defence School Support Worker, Mrs Georgeina Fisher, plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our ADF families. Her care and dedication ensure that families feel supported every step of the way.
Georgeina’s role includes:
Helping Defence families settle in or transition out of the school
Organising meaningful welcome and farewell activities for ADF students
Supporting student wellbeing, including social connections and emotional adjustment
Maintaining regular contact with families to provide ongoing support
Sharing helpful updates and information through the school newsletter
Georgeina is often the first point of contact for parents seeking enrolment information or additional support. Her understanding of the unique challenges Defence families face allows her to offer compassionate guidance and helpful strategies to ease transitions and promote student wellbeing.
We value the important role our Defence families play in our community and are committed to ensuring every child feels safe, supported, and able to thrive at Viewbank Primary School.
If your family is planning to relocate to the area and would like more information about our school or support services, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can contact us on 9459 1512 or via email at viewbank.ps@education.vic.gov.au – we’d love to welcome you to our school community.
