Our Library aims to fulfill the school's mission statement, Love of learning, Learning for life. We have books suitable for a wide range of ages, reading abilities and interests.
Mrs Chris Symons the Library Teacher teaches Preps on Mondays and Year 1 on Wednesdays. She is also available to offer advice on “good reads” on these days. The Library is open before school (8.30 – 9.00am), at lunchtimes on Monday and Wednesday (1.30 – 2.00pm) and after school (3.30 – 4.00pm). Mrs Louise Buissink is our Library Technician who can can assist you with enquiries.
Students are encouraged to borrow during Library lessons, class borrowing times, at lunchtime openings and before or after school. They can borrow up to 4 items at one time for a period of 2 weeks. Students with long-term overdue, damaged or lost books will be required to pay the cost of replacing the items. Please respect our resources so others can enjoy them after you. If there are books you are interested in reading or you think others will enjoy, please fill in the Library Request book near the front door.
Parents are welcome to accompany their child to the Library before or after school to assist them in their borrowing selection. They are able to make selections on behalf of their child and borrow under their child's name. They are encouraged to contact Library staff at any time they have questions or require assistance.
To develop a love of reading, our students are encouraged to participate in Library lessons, the Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge and special events such as Children's Book Week and National Year of Reading. We hold a Book Fair in the second week of November each year where students and parents can purchase books before and after school from Monday to Friday that week. We send home Scholastic Book Club catalogues 8 times a year. Purchases can be made online. The money we raise all goes back into buying more Library resources for the School.
We love assistance to help us shelve or cover books so pop in and visit!
